We could have been placed a measly 16th in a poll of the nicest looking folks in the world but that rating has not stopped Ireland from winning Mr World in Korea this Saturday. Irish model Kamal Ibrahim beat off tough competition from 73 other contestants to be named “the planet’s’s most fascinating man”. The victory follows Ireland’s wonderful win in 2004 when Rosanna Davison brought home the crown for Miss World. The bronzed, chiselled model, who is used by b scene The Agency, nicked the show at the star laden event at Incheon, Korea, and strolled off with $50,000 ( £33,437 ) and the possibility of moneymaking contracts.
Kamal, who in spite of his exotic name was born and bred in Limerick, was supported by his ma Roma and his dad Abdul.
though he hasn’t got common Irish rogue good looks, his sculptured physique and dark-brown eyes helped him secure the desirable title.
Talking of his pleasure next weekend, Sean Montague joint owner of b scene The Agency recounted Eire should be pleased with the win.
A bartender in Limerick, Ken O’Connell, who owns Old Quarter boozer, paid for his flights for the final, so it actually was a case of everybody chipping together to get him there and give him a good shot at the title, ” he revealed. We might need influences from other cultures Kamal is half Italian but we probably did it. This is his shot now to make the cash while he can.”.
