Apple’s roots lie in PCs. Nevertheless nowadays, I have been wondering if Apple actually could pass for a toy company more than a PC technology firm. Though Apple still offers business PCs, it is most prominent today for its clever customer devices, including the iPod Touch ( which can play music and offer net access ), the iPhone ( an iPod Touch with a telephone in it ), and the just released iPad ( a much larger version of the iPod Touch ). Because I do not really own one of those devices myself, I paid a trip to the local Apple store at a mall awfully close to Apple headquarters in Silicon Valley to try them out. I spent almost all of my time taking a look at the iPad, accessing a ‘Beavis and Butthead video, and checking sports scores on ESPN.com. These jobs would definitely qualify as entertainment instead of business uses. Afterward, I messed around with an iPhone and iPad, finding the much littler touch interface a bit constraining after playing with the relatively spacious iPad.

I found all of these colorful devices often fun to use. The store itself was filled mostly with student-age children who I think were more inclined to utilize the devices for recreational purposes instead of to run firms. There are numerous applications for these systems, plenty of which would be more classified as fun and games than business operations.
